Introduction

In 2020, the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery sparked protests across the United States. These protests brought attention to the dire need to dismantle systemic racism in every facet of American life. The purpose of this LibGuide is to provide resources that recognize the problem of racism and answer the call for anti-racist action. The introductory content focuses primarily on anti-Black racism, providing a glimpse into the overall topics of racism and anti-racism. Additional content will explore racism against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

Anti-racism is active opposition to ideas, policies, and institutions that promote racial intolerance. An anti-racist challenges prejudice, discrimination and hatred by expressing and supporting racially equitable attitudes and policies.
